Spring Summer 2013 Fashion Trends

There’s no season we love more than summer, even if it’s warm all year round here in sunny Singapore. With it comes lighter fabrics, delicate details and floral prints that make you want to plan your next beach getaway. Check out some of our favourite trends this season.

Laser-cut Details

There’s a certain charm about laser-cut patterns – perhaps it’s the delicateness of the details that add a feminine touch to an outfit. This season, we spotted the laser-cut trend in the Vivienne Westwood Anglomania collection, from her signature off-shoulder dresses to flouncy A-line skirts.

Floral Prints

Betty Barclay printed pants paired with a breezy white shirt.

Reminiscent of spring, floral prints are one of our favourite trends to wear this season. We love how designers like Betty Barclay have incorporated floral print trousers into their collection – a nice change from the usual floral skirts or dresses. Floral print trousers may seem like a tricky one to pear-shaped ladies, but they’re actually quite wearable. Our advice? Go for a slim cut and pair them with a looser top in basic colours like white or nude.

Coral Hues

We’ve seen lots of coral hues this season, and we can see why. This orange-pink shade gives any outfit a refreshing pop of colour, and is easy to match with. We like this colour best on handbags and accessories, especially when paired with khaki, grey or even matching floral outfits.

Party Dresses

A good party dress is an essential in any closet, especially one you can slip on to look (and feel) fabulous instantly. One of our go-to brands for cute (and affordable!) party dresses is Vera Mont, the sister label of German fashion brand Betty Barclay.

The new collection features bright pops of colours and flirty florals, in all sorts of cuts and fabrics suitable for both cocktail and casual parties. Check out some images from the collection below.

Vera Mont is available at our Betty Barclay corner located at Isetan Orchard (Shaw House), Level 2.

Miranda Kerr for Samantha Thavasa

13.03 - MK (APR-Aqua)-Azayle(low)

A few seasons ago, Japanese handbag and accessories label Samantha Thavasa signed on Australian supermodel Miranda Kerr as a campaign model. We love the new Spring campaign ad above, featuring Miranda and one of the brand’s best-selling styles, the Azayle bag. The classic style of the Azayle, coupled with Miranda Kerr’s undeniable charm, made this a real hit with fans of the brand.

We love the red Azayle Miranda is carrying above, and this season, the bag comes in pastel colours to complement the lightness of Spring. The pastel purple one below is such a pretty shade!

Another Spring favourite of ours is the Verre tote bag below, which comes in a range of candy colours – including pink, pastel blue, orange – as well as basic colours like black, white and grey.

ST Verre Pink

The Verre tote bag is perfect for all sorts of occasions, really. The light pink is great for a weekend getaway or shopping trip with the girls, while the neutrals like black and grey are good for both work and travelling. If you’re interested, this bag is available at our ION Orchard store for $550.

For a change of colour, we’ve also got these cute neon satchels from Samantha Vega, Samantha Thavasa’s sister brand that carries a more casual line. These neon satchels will add a pop of colour to any outfit, and the best part? They’re easy on the wallet as well. The Samantha Vega Neon Winda Satchel retails at $242 and is available at our store located at Isetan Orchard, Wisma Atria basement.

Vivienne Tam at New York Fashion Week 2013

DespiteĀ  the terrible weather, New York Fashion Week still powered through. Nothing gets in the way of fabulous fashion, we say. Not even life-threatening snow storms.

Along with other renowned American designers, Vivienne Tam showcased her Autumn Winter 2013 collection at New York Fashion Week. Inspired by Pop Art and revolutionary Chinese politician Mao Zedong, the collection was an edgy take on Vivienne’s signature East-meets-West designs.
